Keep your pets Happy and Healthy with FiberVET.

FiberVET supports a healthy Bowel.

The product

FiberVET is a soluble fiber powder, granules for veterinary use.  It is a digestion resistant maltodextrin and is conveniently packaged in 600-gram plastic jars.  FiberVET is an-easy-to-administer, fast-dissolving, non-thickening, flavor-neutral, water-soluble dietary fiber.  The FiberVET granules dissolve instantly in water to result in a clear solution.  FiberVET granules dissolve much faster than any other commercial fiber in the market and leave no grainy residue suspended in solution that might be associated with undesirable taste or texture from the animals.  Pets may drink directly this aqueous fiber solution.  The same solution may also be mixed with the animal feed.  Alternatively, the FiberVET granules may be sprinkled directly and/or further mixed with feed.

FiberVET   Advantages:

·         Helps with constipation, diarrhea, and intestinal problems

Research supports that soluble fiber promotes intestinal regularity and may alleviate dog and cat constipation and diarrhea problems.  For cats, use of the soluble fiber in FiberVET, may prevent cat obstipation and mega colon problems.     The mild osmotic effect draws water into the bowel and helps to easily eliminate bowel contents and feces.

The FiberVET fiber, is also fermented by bacteria to produce the beneficial short chain fatty acids (SCFA) such as acetic, propionic, butyric, and other similar acids.  SCFAs have been suggested to reduce intestinal inflammation provide essential energy source to colonocytes and reduce intestinal pH and promote beneficial bacterial populations.  The presence of fermentable soluble fiber has been associated with reduction of pathogenic bacterial populations such as enterobacteriaceae, clostridia and others.  On the other hand, conditions of higher SCFA and lower pH have been associated with increasing populations of the beneficial bifidobacteria and lactobacilli.

SCFA producing fibers act as fuel to build up healthy intestinal cells, feed “beneficial bacteria,” and provide bulk for better movement of materials through the gut.

·         Metabolic regulation

SCFAs are also sensed by G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) which are involved in the regulation of lipid and glucose metabolism.

FiberVET fiber has been demonstrated to reduce post-meal blood glucose peaks and insulin levels with positive results in weight control and in cardiovascular and metabolic health in general.

The Soluble Fiber in FiberVET, reduces cholesterol levels and prevent gallstone formation–the hypothesis is that dietary fiber significantly impacts bile acid metabolism. Soluble fiber binds to the bile acids in the body and speeds up transit time to excretion. When this happens, the amount of bile re-circulated is decreased, requiring the liver to use more cholesterol to produce more bile acids, thereby reducing the amount of cholesterol which the body uses to make low density lipoproteins and ensuring healthy bile flow and preventing gallstone formation.

·         Pancreatic Insufficiency

Non-Thickening, soluble fiber may benefit animals with pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) because it does not contribute to lower nutrient absorption while provide fermentable matter for SCFA production.  Some soluble fibers thicken in the intestinal lumen and contribute to lower nutrient absorption.    Animals on FiberVET stand to benefit from the advantages of SCFA.    Adding soluble fiber to the feed can be particularly helpful for animals that develop secondary bacterial overgrowth.  SCFA production is accompanied by lower pH in the large intestine and helps prevent these types of secondary infections.
